Review
Vasishta is a good fit for the part of Tirupathi. Among the highlights of the movie are his passionate on-screen persona and his fights with Tamannaah in the second half.
As Bhairavi, Tamannaah performs admirably in a part that requires gravity. She controls a large portion of the second half, despite her character arriving only before the break. Her character’s religious and emotional depths seem underdeveloped, despite the fact that several of her moments, particularly the conclusion, are really skillfully done.
In an otherwise erratic movie, a few scenes—most notably the murder scenes and the conclusion with Lord Shiva—are skillfully constructed and offer fleeting moments of intensity.
The picture suffers from its predictable plot and poor narrative. Although the concept of good against evil is a well-worn cliché in Telugu film, this version of it lacks originality and emotional nuance.
Ashok Teja, the director, makes a concerted effort to give Sampath Nandi’s writing the passion or involvement it requires. The screenplay does not create any genuine tension or suspense, and the pacing is slow.
Despite her best attempts, Tamannaah feels miscast in several parts. Her character’s dramatic and religious elements should have been handled more delicately.
The film’s already slow-moving plot is further depressed by a dearth of interesting sequences and cliched song placements. Murali Sharma and other characters might have been given more depth.
Conclusion
Overall, Odela 2 is a supernatural thriller with a few standout scenes, but it mostly fails because of its formulaic plot, uninteresting characters, and clumsy execution. Although Tamannaah is passable and Vasishta gives a dedicated effort, the movie never really captures the audience’s attention. It could be a slight step up over Odela Railway Station, but it doesn’t quite make for an unforgettable cinematic experience. Come in with low expectations.
